文摘
In stonechats, breeding territorial aggression depends on testosterone and oestradiol. Latency to attack a decoy intruder was negatively correlated with testosterone. Males had the physiological capacity to increase testosterone. However, during simulated territorial intrusions they did not increase testosterone. Differences in the control of year-round territoriality reflect evolutionary tinkering.
