Limited recording and recovery cause challenges for conducting funerary taphonomy. Cyprus typifies a cumulative mortuary dataset with disregard to taphonomy. Strategies for dealing with taphonomically limited mortuary datasets are proposed. Scrutiny of completed burial excavations can provide valuable taphonomic insights. Excavation strategies maximizing data for funerary taphonomy are proposed.
