We report the synthesis of a novel, highly fluorescentpentacoordinate silicon compound which is apparently the firstexample of a vinylogous ages/gifchars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">-diketonate complex. The compoundwas generated by slow, solid-state oxidation of a methoxysilanederivative of tetraphenylcyclopentadiene.
